Meet the Executive Director,
Laura Berlind

Laura Berlind joined Renewal House as the organization’s third executive director in January of 2011.

Laura is a native of Nashville who brings with her almost ten years of nonprofit and government finance experience, including two years at Vanderbilt University and six years in the public finance department of Ambac Financial Group in New York, NY. Her clients at Ambac consisted of a wide range of nonprofit organizations, state and local governments, and government agencies. Laura holds a Master in Public Policy degree from Harvard University, where her work focused on the integral relationship between business and government in the public and nonprofit sectors.

Laura is also a member of Hands On Nashville’s Board of Directors and frequently serves as a volunteer budget coach in Nashville Habitat for Humanity’s HomeWORKS program. Her decision to join the Renewal House team was driven by her passion for the organization’s family-focused mission and its message of resilience and hope.

Laura and her husband, Andreas, live in Nashville with their always-enthusiastic mutt, Sully.

Freda's Story
"I often pray that if I can shed some light on someone else's path, then please Father use me to do so. One day there was a young lady---I don't even know her name---looked at me and said, 'You know, I watch you all the time and I want to be just like you; then she gave me a hug. As I turned to walk away with tears in my eyes, I thought to myself, yeah now that's what I'm talking about!"
